B the Scavenger

This little scanvenger.  She took the 4-wheeler down the road and dug through trash and came home with some wood. She gets it from her brother.

He died, twice.

So Cody is at home today working on his truck.  I come home at lunch and he shows me his cut finger, and told me how he died. He sliced his finger (a paper cut!) and said that he bled out to death, but he managed to come back to live.  Then later I'm at work, and I get this message:

My beloved Sadie

Sadie saved my life, so many times. I got her in 2006, she was about 2 years old. Her original owner couldn’t keep her because she went to a nursing home, and the family was going to put her down. I saved her first. We bonded. When I was depressed throughout life, she saved me time and time again. She was my rock. Always there waiting and loving on me. She was bi-polar and temperamental, but we learned to adjust to each other and never had any problems. After having her for 11 years, she moved in with my parents for a while, while I adjusted to new animals/family in my house. Not long after that, she got old, and needed to be put down. I couldn’t do it. I took her pork chops and French fries and we had a last supper together. My mom had to take her to the vet. It was awful. So sad. She is buried on my property in east Texas.  Jan 2004 (aug 2006 for me) to feb 20, 2017.

Christmas Break Vacation

If I could plan it out, we would never plan another vacation the week before, during, or after Christmas again.

We moved the week of Thanksgiving, so while I'm still unpacking and organizing the house, I'm also having to do Christmas shopping, and also plan our Christmas vacation, and shop for last minute items for that, and wrap Christmas presents, and prepare for what foods to bring to our several family Christmases.  It was so stressful and exhausting.  Since our trip, we decided we are not planning anything for a while. And it's great! our 2017 calendar is BLANK..   (well, except for my cruise I'm going on in less than 3 weeks with Candis and my momma. :) )

But, it was still a blast. We drove to Red River, NM, and also took his niece along with us.  Car ride wasn't so bad with Netflix, thank goodness.  Me and Hailey skied for three days, the other two skied only one time down the mountain the first day and quit. We went sledding down a hill, we had snow ball fights, we made homemade snow ice cream, we semi-snowboarded down a small hill, we went snow-mobiling during a big snow storm in like 15 degree temps outside (by FAR the best part of the trip), we drove a 4-hour drive that lasted 10 during horrific icy roads coming down the mountain the dark and SURVIVED, and we made a lot of new memories with Cody's dad and the kids.

Loving this life with this man and these people.

New Furniture

All my adult life I have a bought used and hand-me-down furniture. In 2015, I want black Friday shopping and bought myself very first brand new couch.  Sadly, that couch was attracted to dog hair and it only got used for only a couple of months before I covered it and put it out of sight.   One hot summer night my dog was in the mood to get frisky and got herself pregnant. Pitbulls make beautiful puppies and they were born around the holidays. We were able to sell the 8 puppies and afford a vacation, and new furniture. We got the New Years Day sale and got a wonderful deal. They are leather, so dog hair doesn’t stick. Love it!
