Eat your Cabbage

On New Years Eve/Day you are supposed to eat Cabbage, Ham, and Black Eyed peas for good luck, money and health. apparently, I don't know to cook cabbage so it was gross, so I didn't even swallow one piece of that. So Good luck was out of the question for my 2012. Superstitious right, probably not true? I hoped so.

Until last night.
1- I had a complication in a work project that has lasted way too long, which sucks, I know what you're thinking. that's not really 'bad luck' is it? and then;
2- I'm walking down the sidewalk with a co-worker and miss a curb and fall. I banged up both knees, my ankle, and I got a bruise on my finger? Not sure how that one happened.
3- My Check Engine light on my truck came, and now I have to go to my mechanic and figure out what's wrong and buy some ridiculous part for him to install. (although, this could turn good news, now that he got his teeth fixed and I can focus on his face, he's really cute ;) )

ON another note- I did eat my black eyed peas. and H&R Block looked at a previous year's taxes for me, and found almost $1,600 extra for me to get back. so, I guess I will stick with my black eyed peas every year.

Tuesday Dessert Night

For this evening, I am going to prepare an awesome dessert. I'll probably take it to work tomorrow and share, if it lasts that long.

M&M Bark:

Melt one bag of White chocolate chips in the microwave. Let cook for about 3-4 minutes. Mix M&M's in the melted chips. Spread on wax paper on a baking pan, smooth out. Let cool for 30 minutes. Break into pieces. Eat.

Monday Night Dinner

Tonight I'm making it an easy night for cooking. Simple and yet delicious. I am having Sausage Sandwiches. On the side, I am having some pork-n-beans as well. As a child, the sausage sandwiches were the only thing me and my brother ate for a while. In fact, Mom even cooked this when we went out of town to visit family, because that's about all we would eat. We were weird kids.

Sausage:
1 link of sausage (which ever brand you choose)
BBQ Sauce

Cut the links into bite size pieces. Boil water in a pan. Put the sausage in the boiling water. After about 20-30 minutes, pour most of the water out. Add bbq sauce. Cook for 10 more minutes. Put on bread, and eat.

Mommy's Choice

Linking up for MY first book club of 2012 with the amazing Heather at Blonde... Undercover Blonde.

This week, I read:

This is the story of the strong bond that builds between a mother and her son. It's the story of love and friendship that grows deeper with each passing year. They share a closeness and a bond that can survive anything, or so they thought.

Perhaps telling her story to an old friend could help uncover the clues necessary to answer her nagging question - What happened to her best friend?
It will keep you guessing up until the final page!

~
This book tells a story from a time period of about 20 years, during the lifespan of a mother raising her son and having a family.  The time periods change sporadically and keeps you guessing all the way until the final pages on what exactly is happening, and what was ‘mommy’s choice’ ultimately.  Not aware of this when I decided to choose this book (mainly because it was one of the top free books on kindle), but this is a very religious book and talks often about God and references many bible verses and the choices of right and wrong.  Without giving anything away in case you decide to read this book, the last couple of pages explain the confusion you have had throughout the book, and I have to admit, It brought a tear to my eye and made me really think about some choices too many people make so carelessly and selfishly.

Time for a Walk

One of my new year's resolutions is to walk my dogs 3x a week. so far, for the new year, I've only walked them once this week. but it's only Wednesday, so I am NOT worried. On our walk, my silly dog found an empty water bottle and decided it's his new toy. Now this water bottle lays around on my living room floor.

I did really love Lost. Not just because of the great eye candy and the sometimes shirtless Sawyer (although that was a wonderful perk).

Ian Somerhalder AKA Boone Carlyle

Josh Holloway AKA James 'Sawyer' Ford

Matthew Fox AKA Jack Shephard

New Year's Resolutions

If I don't write this down, I won't remember what I was thinking on this day, for my new year.

I am making my New  Years Resolutions for 2012, in no particular order this is it:

1- read the entire bible
2-  Not to procrastinate
3- Read 12 books
4- Quit drinking soda
5- Lose 20 lbs (ok, so this is a little cliche)
6- walk the dogs 3 times a week
