Funny stuff

Do you ever read The Bloggess? I love her. I don't normally blog about other blogs to read, but this one just has me cracking up today.  When I'm at work and bored, or just plain don't feel like doing what I'm supposed to be doing, I read blogs. And sometimes, I like to read what crazy things Jenny has done recently.  My favorite one of the day is this- Dreams are assholes. Reminds me of the name I wanted for my daughter once.  Mary.  Mary Juana.  Only, hers is WAY funnier.

Ski Colorado

Had an amazing week long vacation with the boy.  We also had some mis-haps along the way which make this awesome trip even better to remember.  :)

1- After a long day of flying (for him) and driving (for us) we decided to stop somewhere in Texas for the night.  When checking out,   all of a sudden I got really hot and extremely dizzy.  Next thing I know, I open my eyes and a man was kneeling next to me staring, and a woman was leaning over me staring, while my head was resting on the boy's chest and he was also staring at me. I was confused and I asked the guy that was staring at me what was going on. This is what I was told happened: I walked up to the boy, leaned my head on his chest, at this point I passed out, hit my head on the counter top, he caught me, and he squatted down as I went down to the floor. I landed on my knees and he kept me from hitting my head on the floor. Two employees that worked there quickly ran from around the counter to check on me. then I woke up. I have never before passed out, and I have no idea what made it happen this time. pretty embarrassing.I was fine after that.

2- We arrive to our first destination in Colorado Springs, at his cousin's place.  He was having a Walking Dead Season Premier party.  Neither me nor the boy watch this, so we had no idea what was going on.  3 soldiers and 1 soldier's wife all have guns out on their laps, while the guys play with them from time to time during the show. The reason- In case a zombie comes out of the TV, they are prepared.  What kind of show are we WATCHING?!!

3- At the ski resort, we get on a lift and go up, and wee notice another ski lift to the right of this one when we get off, that takes you higher. Without looking at a map, we get on that lift and go up pretty dang high. We get off, and see signs for BLUE slopes. Blue, next level from green, can't be too bad we thought. first leg of the slope, an almost straight down slope. wtf?! I stare at it for 10 minutes. after 5, the boy takes off down and probably falls about 4-5 times. I go down as a grandma, super slow. don't fall any though. The entire ski trail has slopes like this one.  He falls another 10+ times, i don't, but he just takes off like a champ while it takes me way longer to get down. I was practically skiing straight over, with a slight uphill to it to keep from going so fast. Lesson from this- blue, which sounds fairly easy, is NOT.

4- After relaxing in the hot tub, I am wet, wearing hardly any clothes, and it's about 17 degrees outside, snowing.  His truck wouldn't grip the road due to the ice and fresh powdered snow, so we couldn't make it up the hill to the condo.  We had to walk.  It was cold.

5-Went out for some brunch, and after we ordered, a kid walked past our table and THREW UP. and when someone throws up, I normally do too.  So glad this wasn't the case this time.

But overall, the trip= ah-maze-ing.

Just a few pictures I managed to capture:

It's snowing. and It's cold.

Going down a Blue Slope- oops.

Valentine's Day Swap

I have never participated in something like this before, but glad I did. I decided to swap Valentine's presents with another blogger. I participated with Tara from Fabulous but Evil and she partnered me with the awesome Emma from Emma Lately.  Not only did I get some great gifts in the mail, but I have had the pleasure of getting to know Emma and she's pretty awesome. :)

I got some awesome lotion and shower gel from Bath & Body Works, some chocolate, Sour Patch Kids candy, pens and day-to-day memo pads (which will come in GREAT handy at work, since I go through post-it notes like crazy for reminders), magnet love letters, Valentine's chip clips (which I've been needing anyway), red nail polish, some warm socks (not shown, as I already wore them this week on my vacation), a magazine (also not shown, as this gave me a great read on my 20 hour car ride), and a sleep mask.  I have to say, I am extremely glad I participated in the swap and got to know Emma. She's such a sweet woman.

Oh, how pinteresting

Today, I'm in the mood for some funnies. I am linking up with Michelle from The Vintage Apple
to conduct another week of Oh, How Pinteresting.

This is exactly what I always want to say to this dumb question!

I'm pretty sure these are meant to be in my truck

I have caught my dog like this before, too bad no camera was around.
and yes- my blinds look about like that too.

Why water is good for you

If you don't regularly drink water, I am going to tell you the benefits of it.

Reason #1- I used to drink cokes. non-stop. In fact, i grew up only drinking sodas, never having any water, for years. Maybe on occasion I'd have a cup of water before bed, or accidently swallow water when brushing my teeth, but that's about it. Dad got high cholesterol and we had to switch to caffeine free coke. Still tasted the same, but we never considered going to water instead. Then I turned 22, and started getting migraines about 1-3 times a month. every month. I'm still drinking only cokes, because that's all I know, and it's so good. When I was 26 I decided my new years resolution would be to lose weight (isn't that everyones?) and one way to do that I knew, was to quit drinking so many sodas. I cut back to one coke a day, and started drinking water. a couple months after I started drinking water, my migraines went away. so I made sure to keep water a part of my daily routine, but I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with the migraines or not.

Then my brother got married. I went home for the week, where there are only sodas. within 3 days of drinking only cokes, the migraines came back, and I felt horrible. I realized my body was craving the water.

Now I'm 28, and I haven't had a single coke in 29 days, and drink almost only water. If I don't drink at least 32 ounces of water a day, I don't feel good in the evening. Sometimes I drink double my water bottle (which is 32 oz).

ok reason #2- before when I drank sodas, and even when I drank only 1 soda and water the rest of the day, I was tired at 9 pm, sometimes I'd fight to stay up til 11. but heaven forbid I try to go out and make it past midnight. and I was always late to work. Making it at 8 am just didn't happen. Getting out of bed just wasn't something I could do. This month, once i quit drinking cokes and drink even more water than before, I can't go to sleep before midnight. and, I am at work earlier than normal, with my new normal time being 7 am. I have more energy. and my skin glows. and I have less pimples. and I'm less stressed.

did I mention- I've lost 6 pounds this month just from not drinking any soda??

Happy Baby

Brynnlei is nearing 5 months. The last time I saw her before this weekend was 4 weeks ago, so she was nearing 4 months then. In those 4 weeks, she has learned to recognize a smile- I love that I get to be so active in her life that I can actually notice the changes in her personality as she grows. She's also laughs when you tickle her or fly her in the air- except for when she throws up on you...

When you smile at her, she just smiles back at you, so happy. BTW- you just gotta love the shirt her momma put on her while I was there :)
