breakfast kolaches

Sometimes I'm in the mood to cook (instead of buying) breakfast sausage kolaches. Yes, sausage. Not the nasty fruit filled legit kolaches. I like the unhealthy, delicious, sausage [abd cheese] in mind. It's so simple. I cut each slice of crescent in half so I have 16 instead of 8. The smokies are too small to use a full slice anyway. Lesson learned! Picture was taken before I learned to cut them in half.

And if you really want to be daring, replace sausage for ham in some!

video games of the... past?

We went to the Texas Ren Fest this weekend, and there was only one item Hailey just had to have. She thought it was the coolest video game. She even said "man I wish we had video games like y'all did when you were kids".

If you can't beat them, join them

The perk of us both being left handed is everything in the house is set up just right for both of us.

Left handed people think differently, organize differently, etc. I'm kinda semi-left handed since I grew up in a right handed world and partial family. I'm interchangeable when I think about it. Naturally I'm left handed. But I can function right handed.

Cody squeezes the toothpaste from the sides. I squeeze from the bottom up. Sometimes he cooperates and does it right. Sometimes he doesn't. I just sigh and go with it.

SMORES Rice Crispy treats

I should probably go ahead and put the recipe here, but I don't have it on hand with me.

These are amazing. And so full of fat. I could cook and eat this every single day.

Zucchini Noodles and stuff

So I saw this recipe for a Zucchini pesto. It entails making Zucchini noodles and mixing avocado mix with a couple things for the pesto sauce. I thought we could just do that for dinner, and maybe add some grilled chicken to the mix.

I forgot to get all ingredients to make the pesto, so I just smashed up avocado t make it more like a dip, baked the noodles (by the way, they shrink immensely once baked), and grilled some chicken. It still came out pretty good and all, but not like I intended.

Let's Play Hookie

After the emotional week or so I’ve had, It was kinda nice when the boyfriend suggested this weekend that I call in sick on Monday, and spend the day with him and we go fishing.  Then Sunday night as we were going to bed, he asked me again if I would. He said “You don’t have to, or if you can’t don’t worry about it, but I’d like it if you could spend the day with me tomorrow.” Well, um, yea! He asked me so sweetly and the idea just hasn’t popped up in my head before or I would have done it earlier. He was off most of last week in-between jobs, and he got rained out a lot the last couple of months, and I never once thought about it.  I’m so glad I did.  Granted, I had 91 emails and 800 problems to deal with Tuesday when I got back to work; but so worth it.

We spent the entire day together and I  just love this man and doing things he loves with him.  He caught the only red fish, which is the fish I was trying to get.  The pole we shared hooked a fish, and he asked if I wanted to reel it in, but I was busy reeling my own in, so I asked him to get it. and BAM! It was about 26” long Red Fish. I only caught Sand trout (like 15 of them!), a croaker, and couple hard head and gafftop.  I would say, it was a successful day. And now, we have dinner in the freezer (yuck!!)
