90 Minutes in Heaven

Today I'm linking up with Heather with Blonde... Undercover Blonde for Book Club Friday.

Based on a True Story- Don Piper is in a car accident just outside of Huntsville, Texas, and is pronounced dead at the scene. This is a fascinating story of a man's visit to Heaven, and his life after returning to earth. Don Piper is an ordained minister in a town outside of Houston, TX, whose recovery continues to be grueling physically. The life and death experience changed his life forever.

The first part of this book was intense. Leaving me waiting to hear more as he describes, as best as possible, what he saw as he spent 90 human minutes in heaven, as we as telling the gruesome story of his rough-life long journey of recovery. The 2nd half of the book he talked about how is experiences helped others. Definitely a book worth reading.

I found several quotes from the book that were inspirational as well.
"Sometimes things we take for granted every day can be taken from us permanently and suddenly, and we're changed forever."
We're willing to save someone in a visible crisis, but a lot of folks are in a spiritual crisis and we don't say a word about how they can get out of it."
"There are no accidents or surprises with God."

Whoo hoo! Another year older. Last Saturday I turned… yup- 28. oh so close to 30! But, I will not admit it. Not yet anyway. Yesterday was the first time I said ‘28’ out loud. That was weird. And sounds so old. But- I had a wonderful birthday so it was great.
My co-workers took me out Friday night, where I ran into quite a few other people, good and bad. Saturday night I went out with more friends and had a wonderful time again. I also realized, at 28, I’m too old to go out all night, all weekend, drinking. Sunday was rough.

And of course, along with a birthday comes presents. My mom and dad got me the new, white, 32gb iPhone 4S, which is amazing. And a phone case/cover that is also a charger. It rocks! I got some brown ‘texas winter’ boots, and some cash, that I spent on 2 shirts and perfume so far. (there’s a little left over, I can’t decide what I want).

I have a new friend, and he sent me these cute flowers, and a hoodie (If you can’t guess, he’s in the Army and didn’t like that I said I often wear a Marine hoodie… oops!)

And then at work, we all have ‘birthday buddies’ and mine happens to also be a good friend, Kari. She bought me kalaches and a really cute pink scarf.

And now, I feel like I should show pics. So- enjoy haha.

Mr. Rogers

do you remember Mr. Rogers?! I remember I used to love watching him, and the trolly and going to Make Believe land. 'Won't you be my neighbor?'

A friend and I were just talking about it. Ah the days of good childhood tv shows are long gone!

Craft weekend

oh how i love Pinterest. I also love my Swiffer Sweeper and Wet Jet. What I don't love- is having to buy refills every month or 2. I feel like it is such a waste to buy these pads just to wipe the floor up, and throw them away. Especially when we are at at time of 'going green'.

I saw this cute little 'Make your own mop pads' on Pinterest and so I decided to try it out.  I am very impressed with myself. Already used it and my floor looks wonderful!

This is my finished product, and this is where you can find the instructions

Fundraiser

I've been in charge of my office's fundraisers for the last two months (we only do them two months a year, and this year, it was mine to handle) Our final fundraiser we did, were two combined into one. Side note: we raised over $1,400 this year.

one was- each employee can pay $1.00 to vote for one of 3 managers to dress up in mystery costumes. The costumes were: Pirate, Sumo Wrestler, and Woody (The cowboy from Toy Story).

The other- We form teams with a theme, and cook chili, selling it for $5.00 a bowl. The costume contest played a role in my team's theme, as we were Pirates, and my manager actually won the pirate costume, which went perfect. oh- btw- the sign in the background, I made :) go me. The girl in the picture is my co-worker and friend, Kari.
